Sharing My Love of Yoga

I’ve been on the health and fitness journey for over 30 years. Coming from a competitive sports background, and with it, many injuries, I started exploring yoga in the hope of healing my physical body.

I did my first Bikram hot yoga class in 1988 and have never looked back. In 2000, I became a certified Bikram Yoga teacher which led me to further yoga training in India, exploring different styles of yoga from power sequences through to yin meditation. Over the past 19 years I have continually trained in more styles and furthered my knowledge across other fields, including pilates, massage and nutrition.

Opening my first yoga studio in Noosa

I opened my first Yoga Studio in Noosa 2007 – Bikram Yoga Noosa, followed by a studio in Kawana and later, Aloha Active Noosa. During this time I also ran a number of yoga retreats in Vanuatu and Bali.

I found immense joy leading small groups on yoga retreats and have created Manyia Retreats as a way to explore more of the world and share my love and knowledge of yoga with people from around the world.

What I Can Offer

While I’m not embarking on a new journey, I’m giving more focus, time, and energy on what I love to do most – delivering health and wellness modalities to facilitate change. 

I do this by providing the following:

  • Creating bespoke and group wellness and yoga retreats both in Australia and worldwide.
  • Facilitating private classes tailored to individual or group needs from beginners to souls with regular practice.
  • Delivering mobile or inhouse massage.
  • Providing carefully crafted workshops and events specifically created for your audience or customer’s needs.
  • Providing and facilitating corporate packages that meet the health and wellness goals of your staff.
  • Mentoring and coaching to individuals or groups.
  • Travelling teacher.

Why I’m on this path…

We all know that mental stress contributes to the dis-ease burden in our society. Remarkably, most people now have more than any generation before us.

We earn more but have to work harder and faster to get it. We have more stuff, yet report being more unhappy. We have immediate access to quality information and health care, but more of us are plagued by chronic illness. The only thing we don’t have more of is TIME.

I noticed over the years of owning studios, just how busy everyone has become. Even when they were holidaying in the beautiful and relaxing destination of the Sunshine Coast.

Everyone was complaining of less time for themselves. Rushing in late for class – barely taking pause or breath. Then leaving class before it had finished – having to be with someone or somewhere else. Requesting short class times, ‘because 90 minutes was way too long.’

These people regularly missed out on the most healing and rejuvenating aspects of the practice of moving the body – Breathing and Savasana. Sadly, they are not alone.

The Breath and Savasana are the healing keys to this modern dis-ease.

The power of the breath and rest permits us to steer the monkey mind back to the body and present moment. Allowing time to still the mind, focus and be present for Meditation and Mindfulness.

It is my mission to share these amazing healing practices of Yoga, Pilates, and Mindfulness with you. I genuinely believe these practices will empower and equip you to live a vibrant and courageous life.

My Journey So Far…

As a naturally curious health seeker, I found Bikram hot yoga in 1988 in the hope of healing my physical body. That is the day I started the beginning of my incredible journey to personal wellness, and a magnificent career that allows me to facilitate the same transformations in others.

It did not start and end with Bikram hot yoga. Over the years, I studied many different forms of yoga and healing methods to expand my own growth and wisdom.

I now have 20+ years experience teaching yoga, pilates, massage and other healing modalities.

Travelling all over the world to work with indigenous and local cultures to learn and grow. I now have over twenty years of experience teaching many styles of Yoga, Pilates, massage, and other healing modalities.

Over this journey, I created, owned, and operated three exceptionally successful Yoga, Pilates & massage studios on the Sunshine Coast of Australia. I sold my last popular studio in Noosa, called Aloha Active in July 2019 to follow my heart’s desire.

Now I have space to pursue my passions in a profound and transformative way.

Over the years of hosting retreats, I have seen the magical results in students who join me. Now my specialty is developing and facilitating Wellness Retreats based in and around the healing energy of nature.

I have been honoured to have guided many through the process of healing and rejuvenation while having adventure and fun – but also allowing each individual to find their own grounded calmness and peace within.

You can hire me to design a bespoke mini-retreat for you, or join me on one of the many I conduct in Australia or worldwide.

Whether you join me for a day, weekend, or week or longer, you will feel the benefits of taking some time out to unwind your mind and detox your body.
